Quality Air Duct Installation

If you are like most home and business owners, as long as your cooling and heating system is keeping you comfortable, you usually don’t give it much thought. However, what you don’t see could be costing you money. Most duct systems are installed in attics or in the crawl space where they are rarely seen or inspected. They may have been poorly sealed when installed, fittings may have come loose, and duct runs may have become disconnected. It’s not uncommon to see ducts torn apart or disconnected by rodents, or completely crushed after the “cable-guy” crawled through. All of this leads to a lot of lost air – air that you pay to heat or cool.

In fact, as much as 35 percent of a home or businesses heating/cooling airflow could be leaking through the ducts, causing a loss of comfort and cooling capacity. On average, almost 15 percent of cooling energy is wasted due to duct leakage.

Our service area encompasses all of Santa Cruz, Marin, Santa Clara, and Sonoma, and Marin County. We service all type of ducting and insulation: spiral ducting, AlumaFlex, sheet metal ducting, and more. From the most complex installation to routine service and maintenance we will handle the project from start to finish. Including removing and recycling of old ducting and sheet metal. Give us a call at 831-477-7150 and receive the best air duct installation in Santa Cruz, Marin, Santa Clara, and Sonoma.

Duct Damage and Leaks

The duct will typically leak at connection points. There is a common test that can be performed called a HERS test that can determine the amount of air leakage. These test typically run about $300 to $500 and take about 2 hours to complete. A little self-diagnostic can also help find leaks. The first thing to look for is disconnected ducts, such as the one shown below. If you ducts are wrapped in fiberglass, a good indication that you have a leak is any black or gray markings in the insulation. The fiberglass acts like a filter as hot or cold air is pulled into the duct by the air handler fan. Another good place to inspect is around register cans. We typically find about 5 to 10% air leakage here. Apply mastic or use butyl tape to seal these areas.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Zach did a fantastic and determined job of conquering our leak from under our crawlspace. Bellows sent someone an hour after I called with a leak report, although it was the end of the day. He diagnosed the issue, got cold water working, and was back the next day with the parts for the hot. Great attitude and fabulous service. Thanks, team bellows!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I give high praise to Bellows for performing three different jobs in succession. First, after being called to have a look, a Bellows troubleshooter recommended we replace our 40-year-old central furnace. We opted to respect his professional judgement. A two-man crew came and got the job done efficiently and with little disturbance. We asked for someone to have a look at our equally old shower valve. A man came to estimate the job then returned to replace it another day. Perfect! We love that we no longer wrestle with the old valve. Last, we asked that someone come to look at our home lighting. A man came to help us formulate a plan. Another two-man crew came and began work. We discussed our needs and minor changes were made to improve our environment further. In every case, we were treated courteously. When they requested permission to make changes, they were forthright and benefitted our environment. A sticking point to me, a retired craftsman, is cleanliness. Every person entering our home was professionally neat and left not the slightest dust for us after they left. I am impressed. Overall, my wife and I spoke with many people from Bellows both in person and on the phone. We would like to stress our perception that in every case, we felt we were working with a family business. That is, we were addressed courteously, and as friends, not simply clients. A few weeks on and we still marvel that we waited so long to do this work. As you see, we're glad we chose Bellows. Thanks!
