Central Coast Community Energy, which now trades as 3CE, still pays rebates for replacing a gas appliance with a heat pump. It serves Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito and San Luis Obispo counties.
Through 3CE’s Electrify Your Home programme, customers can currently claim:
- $2,000 for a heat pump HVAC system, or $3,000 if you are income qualified
- $1,000 for a heat pump water heater, or $1,500 income qualified
- $300 for an induction cooktop or range, or $500 income qualified
- $1,000 for pre-wiring, at either tier
- $150 for a portable heat pump space conditioner, renters only, or $200 income qualified
Eligibility requirements
• You must be a confirmed 3CE customer
• The project must be permitted and meet Title 24 code and/or NEEA Tier 3
• The installing contractor must hold an active CSLB licence number
• Installs qualify only when gas or propane equipment is converted to heat pump equipment. Electric resistance to heat pump conversions do not qualify, and you do not need existing air conditioning
• Income qualified means enrolled in CARE or FERA, or a household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level
The deadline that matters
Heat pump HVAC systems and heat pump water heaters installed between 1 June 2025 and 30 September 2026 must have their application submitted by 30 September 2026. Induction cooktops and portable units installed from 1 October 2025 share the same deadline. Limits are two heat pump HVAC rebates and one heat pump water heater rebate per electric account per fiscal year.
If you have had a heat pump fitted in the last year and never claimed, that September date is the one to work back from.
What is no longer available
TECH Clean California, which used to layer on top of these rebates, has been fully reserved since November 2025. The federal 25C tax credit expired for equipment placed in service after 31 December 2025. Neither is part of the picture for a new installation.
